Transferring a YouTube channel

YouTube channels that are linked to a Brand Account can change owner without sharing passwords. This is the safest way.

Step by step

1. Check it is a Brand Account. In YouTube settings, the channel’s permissions show whether it can have several owners. If it is linked to a personal Google account, the seller first moves it to a Brand Account.
2. The seller invites the buyer as Owner in the channel’s permissions settings.
3. The buyer accepts the invitation.
4. The waiting period. Google makes new owners wait (usually 7 days) before they can become the primary owner. Plan for it in the transfer deadline, or ask for more time.
5. The seller makes the buyer the Primary owner.
6. The seller removes themselves and any other managers the buyer does not know.

Monetisation

• The AdSense account connected to the channel belongs to the seller and cannot be transferred. The buyer connects their own AdSense account in YouTube Studio.
• Agree until which date ad income belongs to whom, and put it in the terms.
